Should I install a plug-in or hardwired EV charger?

​Both can provide Level 2 charging, but there are important differences in installation, charging capacity, equipment and flexibility. The better choice depends on your charger, vehicle, desired charging speed and how you want the installation to function.

What size Level 2 EV charger do I need?

​Level 2 doesn't mean one charging speed. The amount of charging power you actually need depends on your vehicle, daily driving, how long it normally sits at home and how quickly you need to replenish the miles you've driven.

Can my home handle a Level 2 EV charger?

​Often, yes—but it depends on the home's existing electrical demand and the charging load being added. If available capacity is limited, that doesn't automatically mean you need a larger electrical service. Different charging rates, load-management equipment or a service upgrade may all be options depending on the situation.

Do I need to buy an EV charger?

​Not necessarily. Some vehicles include charging equipment that may work for your needs. You can also purchase your own charger, have Skyline provide one, or explore eligible utility charging programs. We'll help you understand the choices before you spend money on equipment you may not need.
